2K a year Power and Utilities Manager - Hood Container, New Johnsonville, Tennessee POSITION
Summary:
Operate and drive the continual improvement of the core requirements of the position relating to:
Development of area of responsibility to achieve maximum efficiency and outstanding performance.
Maintenance of assets in optimal operating condition.
Co-ordination with other Department/Area Supervisors for uptime improvement and asset management.
Working within the concept of optimizing the overall profitability of the business unit.
Reports to Finished Products Manager.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Lead maintenance and reliability effort in Power and Utilities area (Bark Boiler efficiency, Steam Generation, Liquor Plant unit operation, Liquor loading, Evaporation, Water Treatment, Effluent, Waste Clarifier, Air Compressors, Package Boilers (2), etc.
) that efficiently uses materials, labor, and equipment to meet uptime and financial targets.
Optimize maintenance costs and lead efforts with Department/Area and Maintenance Supervisors to do so.
Includes initiating failure reports to identify root cause and provide solutions.
Ensure safety issues are identified, prioritized, and addressed for all the areas.
Includes leading department safety committee meetings, notes and follow-up.
Prepare department shutdown maintenance schedules and co-ordinate outage and routine activities to ensure utilities reliability at optimum cost.
Work as a team to identify and remedy issues affecting environmental compliance.
Ensure production and maintenance schedules are maintained in order to plan department operations.
Collaborate with Department/Area Supervisors to develop and implement processes for continuous improvement in quality and production.
Co-operate with the Department/Area and Maintenance Supervisors to ensure utilities reliability at optimum cost.
Work within Company Rules, Regulations, Policies and Procedures and work in compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental Laws.
Provide support of Department/Area Supervisors, Process Engineers, Technical, & Environmental departments.
Maintain chemical inventories.
Includes monthly reporting to Accounting.
Manage the technical aspects of the manufacturing processes (Bark Boiler efficiency, Steam Generation, Liquor Plant unit operation, Liquor loading, Evaporation, Water Treatment, Effluent, Waste Clarifier, Air Compressors, Package Boilers (2), etc.
) to efficiently use materials, labor, and equipment to meet production and financial targets.
Analyze financial reports and other information to identify cost reduction opportunities as well as develop plans to reduce operating costs.
Develop economics for capital projects in all areas.
Develop, implement, and track safety training.
Collaborate with department to ensure that training needs of operators are identified and materials and methods are in place to address the needs.
Ensure all personnel maintain environmental and DOT training requirements.
Act as contact for environmental issues and compliance.
Manage weekly and vacation scheduling of hourly and salaried personnel.
Manage production processes and systems to meet customer services and needs through continuous optimization.
Identify and prioritize DCS issues and work to ensure resolution.
Coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure continuity of operation Develop and implement plans to efficiently use materials, labor and equipment to meet production and financial targets.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, TRAINING and
Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering Required 5-7 years of power/utilities operational experience preferred.
2-5 years of management/leadership experience preferred.
